NZRAB June 2011 Newsletter about Registration

This is the second newsletter to people considering registration.

Results of the March Registration Round

There were 17 applicants in the March 2011 registration intake and 13 people were successful.

Complex Building Statement
The NZRAB's Registration Committee met on 15 June. The committee has decided that the Complex Building Statement Form will no longer have to be completed as part of a registration application. Applicants, however, still need to think about the appropriateness of their selected case study projects in the context of the definition of a complex building/project. The definition can be viewed here. The assessors, as part of their preliminary review of case studies, may require an applicant to explain in writing their understanding of the architectural complexity and where this is necessary there will be a form to complete.

Closing Date for the August Registration Round
The next intake for registration is Monday 29 August. The two case study copies, application forms and the fee have to be in the NZRAB's office by 5.00pm.

Why are Applications sent to Wellington?
Applicants from out of Wellington often ask why do the applications and case studies have to be sent to Wellington? The answer is that all of the registration administration, including checking the application documentation, creating a database entry, allocating assessors and banking the fee, is undertaken in the NZRAB's office in Wellington. All accepted applications are then sent directly out to the individual assessors.

Breaks during the Professional Conversation
When you are thinking about the conversation, remember that you can ask the assessors for a break at any time during the conversation to take in some fresh air and gather your thoughts. The three hour conversation will be extended to cover any break time taken.

Dates for 2012
Some of you may already be planning to apply for registration in 2012. To help those that are the 2012 Equivalency and Registration Application Fee Schedule is available to view here.
